No matter what medium we're looking at we have too many cases of something so stupid we must wonder why it's still taking it seriously.
Even worse too many creators and audience members think such shameful productions are "awesome".
Stupid is for fun. Stop putting serious faces on it. That doesn't make it a smarter production.

Paying the bills with adventure
I guess I'll talk about games for a bit and we'll start with the kind where in game currency moves more than your power gaming.
Let's start with Recettear. While adventuring your first times around is actually a bit of a bad idea and it's better to stick to store management for a while the option to adventure is still there with its own story to tell and everything but I would hold off until you've got some vending machines working.
Second is Adventures to Go. While our hero doesn't really have any pressing bills to pay he does however need to pay to go on any journey involving more than just dead grass and bugs. The grand bulk of your quests are in fact expensive to go on and that is why I put it in here.
I suppose the next ones that come to mind are kind of oldies
Uncharted Waters was a wondrous mix of RP and Oregon trail but unfortunately it was all too possible to starve to death without knowing if you were even going the right way to the next town. Another problem was that despite the long journeys I couldn't find a means to save but I was only playing the 2nd one of the series. There's an online game but I'm not sure how many of the old elements they'd still be using.
With so little coming to mind I guess I'll rap up with Taipan. This really old piece I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying its original or any "sequels" by the same team. I've only been able to experience some great re-imaginings and aside from a variable issue they've failed to disappoint. The one with the variable issue was the 3000 SE which unlike the other re-imaginings actually kept the story instead of tossing it to the curb however I'll admit they did replace the ancient Chinese elements with sci-fi space adventures but non of the other versions I've played even acknowledge the whole "avenging the father" bit. The game boy advance version while one of those guilty of dumping the plot it at least trys to make up with an extremely expanded variety even going so far as to let you get maps of other lands expanding the number of towns to deal in greatly.
Well I guess that's it. Hoping to make more headway in slowing the downward spiral of media. I'm off again.

indecision
These ideas keep rolling around in my head and I just can't decide which one to work on first.
I've got one overly complex Role Playing Game and one awkward life sim in mind but I just don't know where to start. It would help if I could at least come up with a title to keep the files separate.
I suppose I do already have a title for the RP but the initials sound too much like that movie series about that ring and all that hiking.

Where to begin?
Did not think it would be so easy to start my own blog.
I was thinking what to post about and considered my various projects but I talk a little too much about those already and we already have so many development blogs out there.
Maybe I will post about deving sometime but not just yet. So what will I do? Guess I'll just review the state of affairs in the media world starting now.
First off we need rock, plant, and sand collectors in game dev teams. Show them how vibrant real reality can be so they don't need to rest on fictional scenery elements they've been using over and over already.
Second we need to get it through the thick skulls of the executives out there to QUIT WATERING EVERYTHING DOWN.
Well I guess this sudden start didn't really leave me with any prepared rants so here we go.
